The Family Behind
25,000 Lasting Memorials
Four generations of the Starr family have spent 60 years doing one thing: helping Metrowest Boston families create memorials that truly honor someone they love. Here's our story.

Sixty Years Ago, a Family Made a Promise to Natick
In 1964, the Starr family opened Natick Memorial Works at 161 Pond Street with a belief that has guided every decision since: when a family comes to us to memorialize someone they love, they deserve patience, honesty, and craftsmanship they can stand behind.
[Founding family member name] started the business because they believed Metrowest Boston families deserved better than the cold, transactional experience most monument companies offered. This was personal work — work that would outlast all of us — and it demanded to be treated that way.
"A memorial isn't a product. It's a promise — that someone was here, that they mattered, and that they will not be forgotten."
Six decades later, that founding belief hasn't changed. The names and faces have evolved — four generations of the Starr family have now carried this work — but the commitment to each family who walks through our door remains exactly the same.

Four Generations. One Commitment.
Most businesses talk about tradition. We've lived it — passing down not just the craft, but the care, the patience, and the belief that every family deserves to get this right.
[Founder Name] Starr
Founder[Founder Name] established Natick Memorial Works in 1964 with a simple belief: that Metrowest Boston families deserved a monument company that treated them with real compassion — not like a transaction to be closed. Working out of 161 Pond Street, [he/she/they] built a reputation for craftsmanship and patience that drew families from across the region.

Second GenerationGrowing up in the business, [Name] learned the craft from the ground up — and brought the same patience and care to each family that had defined Natick Memorial Works from the beginning. Under [his/her/their] leadership, the business grew its reputation across Metrowest Boston, earning the trust of thousands of additional families.

Third Generation[Name] continued the tradition while modernizing certain aspects of the business — expanding the range of materials, bringing in new engraving techniques, and growing the service area to cover more of Metrowest Boston. The one thing that never changed: every family was treated like a personal responsibility, not a customer.
Michael Starr
Current Owner & CraftsmanToday, Michael Starr leads Natick Memorial Works with the same values his family has upheld for 60 years. Like the generations before him, Michael works hands-on — overseeing engraving, meeting with families, and ensuring every piece that leaves the shop is exactly right. He knows that the families who come through the door are trusting him with one of the most permanent things they'll ever create, and he takes that seriously.
When You Call, You Get Michael
At many monument companies, you'll speak with a salesperson who passes your order down the chain to craftsmen you'll never meet. At Natick Memorial Works, the person who answers the phone is the same person overseeing your loved one's memorial from start to finish.
That's Michael Starr. Fourth generation. Learned the craft growing up in this business. Understands — personally — what it means to trust someone with a decision this permanent.
Hands-on from consultation to installation — not a hands-off owner
Grew up in this shop — this craft is in his family's history
Personally oversees all on-site engraving — your loved one's memorial is never just a job number
Coordinates directly with cemeteries — you don't manage logistics while you're grieving

What Every Family Can Expect From Us
These aren't policies we post on the wall. They're how every person who has led this business has operated for 60 years.
Grief doesn't follow a schedule. You can take as long as you need. Visit twice, ask every question, come back with family. We're here when you're ready — not before.
We'll walk you through costs clearly, without hidden fees or surprise charges. You'll know what you're getting and exactly what it will cost before we begin.
All engraving and fabrication is done on-site in Natick. You can see the work being done. We don't outsource the most important part.
Cemetery coordination, installation scheduling, permit requirements — we manage all of it so you don't have to while you're grieving.
Every letter, every line, every detail. This is permanent — and we treat it that way. We review every piece before it leaves our hands.
We listen to who your loved one was. We ask questions. We want to understand what this memorial needs to say — because we know how long it will say it.

"Four generations and it shows. The craftsmanship is impeccable, but what really stands out is how they treat you. Never rushed, never pressured — just genuinely caring people who wanted to help us honor our father properly."Wellesley, MA
